VolunteeringVolunteers have always played an important part of S.E.N.A.C.A. Seniors Day Program. Volunteers enhance the program and add a personal touch by bringing new ideas, enthusiasm, organization, experience, humour, and lots of love to our clients. They enhance the physical and mental quality of life for frail elderly and physically and cognitively impaired adults. In return volunteers have the opportunity to have fun and meet new people, gain valuable experience in working with seniors and enjoy being part of a team of dedicated staff and other volunteers. Often our volunteers express great satisfaction from helping the seniors and say that they have received from volunteering much more than they feel they have given. Volunteers of all ages, including families, are welcome. Students who wish to do their 40 hours of Volunteer Service for High school requirements and students who wish to do co-op placements are welcome to apply. All volunteers are required to complete an application, supply 3 references and have a police reference check done. Supervision and training are included and each volunteer is partnered with a staff member for support.
